I am writing to express my strong endorsement of Robert J. Gonzalez for Sierra College Trustee.

As a part-time faculty member who regularly attends monthly Board meetings, I am familiar with the critical decisions this board makes. I strongly believe our students and faculty need a dedicated advocate, and Robert is uniquely suited to fill that role.

With his solid background in the financial management of public institutions and his sharp attention to detail, he would be an exceptional addition to the board. I encourage you to support his candidacy.

  • Vicki Day | Mathematics Professor, Sierra College

As a mathematics professor who has taught at Sierra College for over two decades, I have seen firsthand what it takes for our Board of Trustees to serve students, faculty, and the communities of Lincoln,El Dorado, Sacramento, and Yuba counties. It takes trustees who listen, who understand the realities of the classroom, and who are willing to ask hard questions about how the district spends its resources.
I am proud to endorse Robert Gonzalez for the Sierra College Board of Trustees, Area 5.
Over my career, I have watched Sierra College grow and change, and I have also watched the challenges facing our faculty and students grow alongside it. We need trustees who will prioritize instruction, support fair compensation for the full-time and part-time faculty who do the work of educating our students, and hold the district accountable for transparent and responsible stewardship of public funds. I believe Robert Gonzalez will bring that perspective to the Board.
I encourage the voters of Area 5 to join me in supporting Robert Gonzalez this November.

  • Sierra College Faculty Association PAC Endorses Robert Gonzalez for Board of Trustees, Area 1

The Sierra College Faculty Association is proud to endorse Robert Gonzalez for the Sierra College Board of Trustees, Area 1.
Robert will bring 40 years of disciplined military and public service to Sierra College—combining two decades of duty-driven military leadership with 20 years managing complex state government budgets and operations. He understands that investing in students and educators is the single most effective way to drive regional economic growth, and he offers a proven track record of fiscal stewardship, transparency, and accountability.
Every one of us has been shaped by an educator, and we remember how tirelessly they worked to support us and encourage us to achieve our full potential. Yet, compared to community colleges across California, Sierra College faculty face severe structural headwinds: uncompetitive compensation, a shortage of full-time faculty and a reliance on part-time contingent labor that has reached a breaking point. In addition, part-time faculty are currently excluded from club advising, courses that require extended field experience, and from participation in shared governance.
Robert understands these systemic challenges and offers a fresh, solution-oriented perspective. With 20 years of experience managing state budgets, he knows how to ask hard questions, scrutinize expenditures, and hold institutions accountable.  Robert will bring that same rigorous, independent oversight to the Board—including examining auxiliary funds established outside standard financial statements to ensure every public dollar entrusted to Sierra College serves its educational mission.
Robert is deeply committed to student success, workforce development, and championing policies that give students the practical tools to achieve their career goals.
After more than a decade with the same representation, Area 1 voters have a clear opportunity to elect a leader defined by principled service, financial integrity, and an unshakeable commitment to our community. Robert Gonzalez will bring the disciplined leadership Sierra College needs.
